Iran Conflict Persists Into Fourth Week Without Resolution
The Iran conflict has moved into a fourth week and shows no clear end. President Trump said his administration is weighing a wind-down of military activities.
Combat operations and strikes
U.S. and Israeli forces say they now control the skies over Iran. Israeli strikes were reported early Saturday targeting locations in Tehran.
The Pentagon says Iranian missile and drone activity has fallen by about 90 percent from the conflict’s early days. U.S. Central Command released footage claiming responsibility for roughly 8,000 strikes on Iranian targets.
Notable incidents and regional hits
Britain reported an attempted Iranian strike on the Diego Garcia base. The missile reportedly missed. Diego Garcia lies roughly 2,500 miles from Tehran.
Israel also struck sites in southern Syria. Targets included a Syrian command center and weapons depots in Sweida province. Those strikes followed deadly clashes between Syrian government forces and Druze fighters.
Forces and deployments
U.S. attack aircraft, including A-10 Warthogs and Apache helicopters, are active in strikes. The Pentagon says it is also targeting Iranian fast boats in the Persian Gulf.
Additional U.S. Marines are en route. The USS Boxer group left California carrying the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The transit to the Gulf will take about three weeks. Another group aboard USS Tripoli, with more than 2,000 Marines, is expected from Japan.
Maritime and energy disruption
The Strait of Hormuz is nearly closed to normal traffic. The International Maritime Organization reports more than 3,000 vessels stranded in the region.
The U.S. temporarily lifted sanctions on oil already loaded on ships. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the move should release about 140 million barrels to markets. The waiver runs through April 19, 2026.
The strait normally handles about one-fifth of global oil and LNG. Since the war began, crude prices have jumped roughly 45 percent. Benchmark crude has topped $110 per barrel.
Economic ripple effects
Rising crude has pushed U.S. gasoline prices higher. Storage at sea that held excess oil in February is shrinking fast. Markets remain volatile.
Diplomatic reactions
Britain condemned the attempted strike on Diego Garcia and said it will defend its people and assets. Turkey called Israeli strikes on Syria a dangerous escalation and labeled them illegal.
Israel framed its Syrian strikes as efforts to protect the Druze minority from Syrian government forces. Turkey has long engaged with varied militia groups inside Syria.
As the Iran conflict has entered its fourth week and remains without resolution, regional tensions and economic fallout continue. Filmogaz.com compiled this report from multiple field accounts and official statements.
