Marvel Announces Record-Breaking Runtime for Upcoming Punisher Special
A Writers Guild of America West listing confirms the new Punisher special runs 60 minutes. That marks a record-breaking runtime for Marvel’s upcoming Punisher special. The entry is billed as a Special Presentation for Disney+.
Runtime in context
The 60-minute length makes it the longest Marvel Special Presentation so far. For comparison, 2022’s Werewolf By Night ran 53 minutes and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special ran 42 minutes.

Tone and Bernthal’s approach
Marvel has not released an official title or plot summary. Bernthal has said the special will not be a watered-down take. He described a dark, uncompromising Frank Castle story that aims to satisfy long-time fans.
Appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Bernthal also appears in the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer. The clip shows a brief exchange between Punisher and Spider-Man during an armored car chase in New York. Spider-Man interrupts Castle before he escalates the violence.
