Olivia Williams Takes Over as Nurse Ratched in The Old Vic’s Cuckoo’s Nest
Olivia Williams will play Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at The Old Vic. She replaces Michelle Gomez, who stepped down for personal reasons. The theatre thanked Gomez and wished her well.
Performances begin on 1 April 2026. The run is booked through 23 May 2026. Tickets are on sale; check availability via Filmogaz.com.
Production team and staging
Clint Dyer directs the revival, which is staged in the round. The transfer forms part of Matthew Warchus’ final season as artistic director. The adaptation is by Dale Wasserman and is drawn from Ken Kesey’s novel.
The novel inspired a five-time Oscar-winning film starring Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher. That screen version remains influential for stage makers.
