Kevin Durant Teams with Texas for Exclusive Rockets KD 19 Colorway

Kevin Durant has deep ties to the University of Texas. He regularly supplies custom burnt orange colorways for his shoes.

Durant’s relationship with Texas

Durant has publicly said he wants a larger KD brand presence at Texas. He envisions a formal business partnership with the university.

Nike and Durant previously released a University of Texas colorway of the KD 4 in 2024. That retro returned alongside other KD 4 variations.

Shoe retros and key models

Durant regards the KD 6 highly. He calls the Longhorns colorway of the KD 6 one of his favorites.

Nike plans a KD 6 retro for December 2026. The planned release mixes orange Hyperfuse, black Hyperfuse, and glow-in-the-dark green elements.

KD 19 in the 2025-26 season

Durant wore the KD 18 for most of the 2025-26 season. As the playoffs neared, he shifted to the KD 19.

In the Rockets’ opening game against the Lakers, he wore a University Red KD 19. In the second matchup, he wore an all-yellow KD 19.

Texas Orange player-exclusive

Durant and Nike created a Texas Orange KD 19 colorway for the Longhorns. The pair features an all-orange patent leather exterior.

He wore that Texas Orange pair during Houston’s game versus the Miami Heat. The university will use the colorway during March Madness.

NIL deal and college players

Durant and Nike reached an NIL agreement with Texas earlier this month. That arrangement enabled player-exclusive colorways for Longhorn athletes.

Lady Longhorns forward Madison Booker wore the orange KD 19 in Texas’ 87-45 win over Missouri State. She described the experience as surreal.

Design intent and reception

Durant said the KD 19 aims to instill confidence for big shots. He wants wearers to find rhythm and hit their spots.

So far, three KD 19 colorways have been seen on-court. The collaboration highlights Kevin Durant, Texas links, and Rockets branding.
