Barbie Honors Women’s Day with Global Female Role Model Dream Team
Barbie®, the iconic doll from Mattel, is celebrating International Women’s Day with a month-long initiative aimed at honoring women who have made significant contributions in various fields. The celebration features the launch of the Barbie Dream Team, which includes a collection of dolls representing notable female role models.
Global Female Role Model Dream Team
This year’s Barbie Dream Team showcases a diverse group of women who have broken barriers and excelled in their respective industries. The team includes:
- Serena Williams (Global): Tennis champion with 23 Grand Slam singles titles.
- Kellie Gerardi (USA): Research astronaut and payload specialist.
- Regina Sirvent Alvarado (Mexico): Renowned professional race car driver.
- Chloe Kelly (UK): Trailblazing professional footballer.
- Helene Fischer (Germany): Influential contemporary pop artist.
- Zoja Skubis (Poland): Youngest Polish woman to summit Mount Everest.
- Stephanie Gilmore (Australia): Professional surfer with eight World Surf League titles.
- Smriti Mandhana (India): Cricketer who achieved milestones in multiple formats.
Celebration Initiatives
In addition to the doll launch, Barbie will also host Barbie Dream Days, a series of global events featuring special promotions on Barbie products. These promotions will run from March 8 to 15 and will be available through major retailers like Walmart, Amazon, and Target.
To further highlight the contributions of female changemakers, Barbie has partnered with six women-led brands in the beauty and fashion sectors. These include:

Barbie Dream Fest
Another highlight of the celebration is the Barbie Dream Fest, scheduled for March 27-29 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This first-of-its-kind fan festival will include inspiring speakers such as Serena Williams, Angel Reese, and Dr. Swati Mohan. The event promises immersive activities and celebrations focused on the heritage and creativity of the Barbie brand.
According to Nathan Baynard, Vice President and Head of Barbie at Mattel, the initiative aims to inspire girls to envision a future without limits. Williams echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of female empowerment and representation.
