TTC Closes 5-Kilometre Subway Stretch for Entire Weekend
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is set to close a five-kilometre segment of the Line 2 Bloor-Danforth subway this weekend. This closure will affect travel between Victoria Park and Kennedy stations from 11 p.m. on Friday, March 6, to Sunday, March 8, 2026. The reason for this disruption is ongoing track maintenance.
TTC Subway Closure Details
During the closure, shuttle buses will replace regular subway service along this route. Notably, Warden Station will be completely unavailable for commuters, although Victoria Park and Kennedy stations will remain operational. Riders can still purchase fares and access surface routes from these stations.
Key Dates and Impacted Stations
- Closure Start: Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11 p.m.
- Reopen Date: Monday, March 9, 2026, at approximately 6 a.m.
- Stations Affected:

This service interruption is part of ongoing issues that have plagued Scarborough transit users. Not only are residents facing this closure, but they have also dealt with the recent shutdown of Line 3 Scarborough RT, the construction of its busway replacement, and delays related to the Scarborough Subway Extension. The long-awaited Eglinton Crosstown LRT has also added to the complications.
As transit development continues, these temporary closures have become a familiar inconvenience for commuters in the area. The TTC encourages travelers to plan ahead and consider alternative transportation options during the disruption.
