NHL Stars on Waivers List for March 1 Deadline
As the NHL heads into the March 1 deadline, several notable players have recently been placed on waivers. On Sunday, five athletes made the list, giving teams an opportunity to strengthen their rosters ahead of the trade deadline.
NHL Stars on Waivers List
- Andrew Mangiapane (Edmonton Oilers)
- Alec Regula (Edmonton Oilers)
- Luke Kunin (Florida Panthers)
- Robby Fabbri (St. Louis Blues)
- Guillaume Brisebois (Vancouver Canucks)
The availability of these players provides teams the chance to consider roster moves. If any of them clear waivers on Monday, they may be assigned to their respective American Hockey League (AHL) affiliates.
Player Profiles
The first name on the list, Andrew Mangiapane, has been the subject of trade discussions recently. The 29-year-old forward has played 52 games this season, accumulating seven goals and seven assists, totaling 14 points. This performance is a significant drop from the 40-plus points he recorded when he played for the Calgary Flames. Mangiapane is in the first year of his two-year, $3.6 million contract that runs through the 2026-27 season. Throughout his career, he has played 550 games, recording 130 goals and 127 assists.
Alec Regula, another player from the Oilers, has mostly been a healthy scratch this season. In his 29 appearances, he registered three points. The 25-year-old defenseman’s contract is a two-year deal with a cap hit of $775,000 that extends through next year.
Robby Fabbri was acquired by the Blues in December to provide depth due to injuries on the team. He has appeared in 15 games, scoring one goal and adding three assists for four points. Before joining St. Louis, he played three games for the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers, where he scored a goal and two points.
Luke Kunin has appeared in 44 games for the Panthers this season, scoring two goals and totaling four points. His last goal was on January 29. Kunin is currently on a one-year contract, with a cap hit of $775,000.
Lastly, Guillaume Brisebois has not played this season due to a lower-body injury requiring surgery. The Quebec native last played in the NHL in January of the previous year and has recorded two goals and five points in 48 games with the Abbotsford Canucks. He is under a one-year, two-way contract with an NHL cap hit of $775,000.
As teams navigate the waiver wire, the decisions made about these players could impact their playoff aspirations significantly. The March 1 deadline looms closer, adding pressure to both players and teams alike.
