Rosalia and Björk steal the Brits as GNTM serves an angel shoot and a tense male-model week
rosalia dominated the Brit Awards with a staged performance of Lux’s lead single "Berghain, " complete with elaborate sets and a live orchestra, and later won International Artist Of The Year; meanwhile Germany's Next Topmodel ran an angel-wing shoot in episode six and put its male contenders through an early, high-pressure photoshoot on the Spree.
Rosalia’s Berghain set brought an orchestra and an unbilled Björk
At the Brit Awards, Rosalía turned her theatrical album Lux—released last year and described as merging classical and operatic influences with hip-hop and Spanish-infused sounds—into a staged centerpiece by performing the album’s lead single "Berghain" with elaborate sets and a live orchestra and showcasing her vocals at the heart of the production.
The performance included an unbilled appearance by Björk, who delivered Rosalía’s Berghain verse live; the show marked Björk’s first time performing on the Brits stage in more than 30 years.
Rosalia capped the night with the International Artist award
Rosalía followed her performance by winning the International Artist Of The Year prize, beating nominees Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga. Onstage she said she was "so grateful just to be here tonight, just to perform, " and called to "keep celebrating the ‘other’-ness"—urging an embrace of different music, cultures and languages. Comedian Jack Whitehall later heaped praise on her during a lighthearted segment.
GNTM episode six: angel wings, confused contestants and falling ratings
Germany’s Next Topmodel’s sixth episode staged an angel-wing photo assignment with candidates given wings in black or white; most contestants welcomed the brief, but not all understood it. Eighteen-year-old Vanessa opened the segment by saying, "Ich freue mich auf das Shooting, weil ich da Face serven kann!" and later appeared puzzled by the white wings with the line, "Weiße Flügel? Lernen wir jetzt Klavier, oder was?"
The episode arrived amid weak viewing figures: after three weeks the show’s opening episodes drew fewer viewers, and a Heidi Klum–branded companion doc, "On & Off the Catwalk by Heidi Klum, " failed to lift interest. A family segment featuring Heidi Klum with her children Leni and Henry Samuel fared poorly, with Pro Sieben drawing 590, 000 viewers and placing behind RTL 2; pieces such as repeat screenings of the comedy "Wir sind die Millers" outdrew the patchwork format.
Nadja Auermann, Armin Morbach and a Lindbergh homage
Hopes for a surprise judge such as Igor Levit faded quickly when Heidi Klum announced two fashion icons: Nadja Auermann and Armin Morbach. Auermann told the contestants the shoot would be a homage to Peter Lindbergh—a concept few contestants grasped; only Bianca, aged 47, and Ursula, aged 54, showed recognition of Lindbergh’s legacy. Morbach took the photographs while Auermann and Klum observed, and Klum repeatedly mispronounced Morbach’s name as "Ahmiiiehn. "
The episode also revisited former contestant Zoe Saip’s past makeover: Zoe arrived in 2018 as a young Abbey Lee lookalike, was given a forced makeover likened to a Dolly-Buster transformation and then eliminated; that thread was cited as part of the broader critique of the franchise’s recent creative choices.
Male models face early restyling and pressure on the Spree
In the show’s male-model week, Heidi Klum announced an early GNTM restyling and said, "Ich werde heute schon mal auf das komplette Paket achten, " as male models posed in tight shorts on a boat on the Spree. Photographer Andreas Ortner was assigned to shoot 1950s-style retro swimwear along the river, and Klum added, "Ich will ja wissen, was ich hier mitnehme auf Reisen. "
Candidates reacted unevenly: Yanneck said, "Ich habe einen recht ansehnlichen Körper, " while Hyan admitted, "Ich schäme mich schon so ein bisschen über meinen Körper, " describing a difficult adjustment after weight gain. Trans man Jill said he was glad to be excited about the shoot—"dass ich da jetzt überhaupt Bock draufhabe"—and spoke of childhood struggles with feminine features and the pressure that eventually forced him to act: "Irgendwann war es so schlimm vom Leidensdruck, dass ich mich bewegen musste, weil sonst hätte ich das nicht überlebt. "
