Turkish Airlines Cancels Middle East Flights Due to US-Israel Strikes on Iran

In response to recent geopolitical tensions, Turkish Airlines has announced the suspension of multiple flights to various Middle Eastern destinations. This decision, effective until March 2, follows airspace closures implemented by several countries after the United States and Israel conducted military strikes on Iran.

Flight Cancellations by Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines will not operate flights to Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman on February 28, 2026. Yahya Üstün, the airline’s senior vice president for communications, shared this update on the social media platform X. He emphasized that the airline is actively monitoring airspace developments and warned that further cancellations could be expected.

AJet’s Cancellations

Alongside Turkish Airlines, low-cost carrier AJet also announced significant cancellations over the same period. Flights to Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon will be suspended until March 2. Additionally, flights to the United Arab Emirates scheduled for February 28 will not operate. AJet’s Press Advisor, Mehmet Yesilkaya, confirmed that the situation would be monitored closely, indicating potential for further disruption.

Regional Airspace Closures

The suspensions of flights are part of a broader trend of aviation restrictions in the region. Several Middle Eastern countries have taken precautionary measures, including:

  • The United Arab Emirates has temporarily closed its airspace to all incoming and outgoing flights.
  • Qatar has suspended all air traffic indefinitely.
  • Kuwait has canceled flights to Iran until further notice.
  • Syria has halted flights through its southern air corridors.
  • Iraq has closed its airspace for all aircraft.

As these developments unfold, passengers traveling to or from impacted destinations are advised to stay updated via the airlines’ official websites, including Turkish Airlines and AJet, for the latest flight information.
