Pharaoh Compton Enters Transfer Portal After Two Seasons at The Mesa

Pharaoh Compton has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Mark Zeigler of the SDUT first reported the move Monday night and it was confirmed the following day.

Roster movement at San Diego State

Compton is the fifth Aztec to enter the portal this cycle. He joins BJ Davis, Miles Byrd, Magoon Gwath, and Miles Heide.

Heide also entered the portal, which could affect Compton’s options. Compton could still return to The Mesa for the 2026-27 season.

Season review and role

Compton spent two seasons with the program on The Mesa. Last year he came off the bench and made an immediate offensive impact.

Statistic Value
Points per game 7.2
Field goal percentage 72.1%
Rebounds per game 2.8
Minutes per game 13.8

His 13.8 minutes were limited by foul trouble. He averaged only 0.6 more minutes than his freshman season.

The 72.1 percent shooting mark would rank among the nation’s best if eligible. His rebounding numbers lagged, though.

Strengths and areas to address

Compton is a high-efficiency finisher at the rim. He often attacks the basket at full speed and converts efficiently.

Defensive aggression has caused excessive fouls. Reducing foul trouble could unlock more playing time and a larger role.

Outlook and next steps

Compton will test the market like many modern players. He is betting on himself to find a better fit or opportunity.

He remains close with fellow Las Vegas native Taj DeGourville. Expect a decision soon following Compton’s move.
