Police Video Reveals Vince Mcmahon Driving 100 mph Before Connecticut Crash
Newly released police video shows Vince McMahon driving a 2024 Bentley Continental GT at more than 100 mph on the Merritt Parkway before rear-ending another vehicle and striking a guardrail in Westport on July 24, 2025. The footage matters now because it documents both the sequence of the crash and the interaction with Connecticut State Police that led to citations and a pretrial agreement in court.
Vince McMahon questioned by Connecticut State Police detective
Bodycam and dashcam recordings show state police Detective Maxwell Robins approaching McMahon at the scene and asking why he had been driving “all over 100 mph. ” In the video, McMahon, who is 80, replied, “I got my granddaughter's birthday, ” and later denied looking at his phone and said he had not driven the car in a long time. Robins told McMahon he was trying to catch up and repeatedly asked why McMahon was accelerating; McMahon responded, “No, no no. I’m not trying to outrun you. ”
State police said Robins was attempting to catch up to McMahon to clock his speed before pulling him over. They characterized the interaction as an effort to stop and cite the driver rather than a pursuit aimed at forcing someone to stop.
Merritt Parkway crash damages multiple cars and leads to court action
Dashcam video captures McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT approaching a BMW in the same lane, braking and swerving at the last second. The Bentley clipped the rear of the BMW, then smashed into the left-lane guardrail and careened back onto the highway, kicking up a cloud of dirt and vehicle parts. Flying debris struck a vehicle traveling on the opposite side of the parkway. Police said no one was seriously injured.
Authorities cited McMahon for reckless driving and following too closely. In October, a state judge permitted him to enter a pretrial probation program; the agreement requires a $1, 000 charitable contribution and offers that the charges will be erased from his record next October if he successfully completes the program.
The facts captured on camera create a clear chain of cause and effect: the trooper’s effort to catch up preceded the high-speed driving documented on the dashcam; the excessive speed and a late lane change led to contact with the BMW; the collision with the guardrail then generated debris that struck another vehicle. What makes this notable is that the video records both the immediate driving behavior and the law-enforcement response, allowing a judge to resolve the case through a supervised diversion rather than a lengthy trial.
The footage identifies the vehicle as a high-end 2024 Bentley Continental GT, which state police noted was traveling at 100 mph (160 kph) or more. Following the incident, McMahon exchanged words with the driver of the BMW and, after receiving a traffic summons, shook hands with Detective Robins and another trooper before leaving the scene.
The video and the subsequent court disposition close the chapter on the highway incident for now, with the pretrial program setting a clear timetable: a charitable payment and probationary period that, if fulfilled, will result in the removal of the reckless-driving and following-too-closely charges from McMahon’s record the following October.
