Eva Green Joins ‘Wednesday’ Season 3 as Production Starts in Ireland
Production on Wednesday Season 3 has begun in Ireland, and the show’s third instalment has added a wave of new performers while confirming eva green in the role of Morticia Addams’s sister. The announcements and a short promotional video matter because they both expand the cast and surface visual clues tied to unresolved cliffhangers from Season 2.
Production Begins in Ireland
Filming for Season 3 is underway in Ireland. Creators and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar framed the start of production as “our dark delight” and said the team will welcome new students and teachers as the season excavates long-rotting Addams Family secrets. Director and executive producer Tim Burton called the reunion with returning cast members and new collaborators a source of excitement and said the additions make the season “extra special. ”
Eva Green Cast as Aunt Ophelia
eva green has been cast to portray Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams’s sister. Producers described Green as an elegant, haunting and unpredictable fit for the part, and Green herself said she was “thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of Wednesday, ” adding that she can’t wait to bring “her own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams family. ” What makes this notable is Green’s casting joins a wave of high-profile returns and guest appearances that directly tie Season 3 to unfinished storylines from Season 2.
Winona Ryder Confirmed as Tabitha
Winona Ryder has been cast in a guest role that was unveiled earlier this morning and will portray a character named Tabitha. The role is being held under wraps beyond the name, but Ryder’s addition reunites her with Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega. Burton called Ryder a dear friend and said he always feels lucky to work with her, while Gough and Millar praised Ryder’s longstanding partnership with Burton and referenced their recent collaboration on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
New Cast: Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer
Season 3’s new additions include Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer. Sarandon will play a character named Balthazar; the production teased a black bottle bearing that name and noted Balthazar’s presence in Addams family mythology as Cousin Balthazar, who is supposedly dead because Gomez and Morticia met at his funeral. Noah Taylor will portray Cyrus, Oscar Morgan is cast as Atticus and Kennedy Moyer will play Daisy. All four of those new characters were shown with a capital B monogram above their names on place-setting cards in the promotional material.
Promo Video and Nevermore Place-Setting Clues
A promotional video released to mark the start of production staged a creepy-crawly feast served by Lurch and another servant and listed a broad set of returning cast members, including Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams and Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester. The video also showed Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Evie Templeton, Isaac Ordonez, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mustafa, Victor Dorobantu, Fred Armisen, Billie Piper and Hunter Doohan among those set to return.
The clip planted several visual signals: Enid’s placard is shown going up in flames; all Nevermore students except for Tyler have an N above their names while Tyler bears an O; Addams family members such as Wednesday, her brother and their parents are marked with an A; Grandmama and Aunt Ophelia carry an F for Frump. The video depicts Aunt Ophelia receiving a cake and ends with a dish lid revealing Uncle Fester’s bald head. Alongside the black bottle stamped Balthazar is a second bottle marked with a question mark, an element left unexplained in the footage.
Season 2 Legacy and Outstanding Cliffhangers
Season 2, which debuted in 2025 split into two batches, rose to the No. 5 most-watched English-language series of all time on the platform, while Season 1 — released in 2022 — still ranks as the streamer’s most-watched English-language series. Season 2 closed on several cliffhangers: Aunt Ophelia was revealed to be in Grandmama Hester’s basement, Enid experienced an Alpha wolf-out during a full moon that showrunners warned may be impossible to reverse, and Isadora Capri’s storyline remained unresolved and is unclear in the provided context. The production start and new casting position Season 3 to respond to those dangling threads.
Gough and Millar have said additional details will be released at a later date.
