Army Medic Death: Prince William's tribute
The Prince of Wales said he felt "immense sadness" at Wilde's death and recalled meeting her in March 2024 when she was serving with the Welsh Guards. He said her "warmth and compassion were unmistakable" and added, "She served with courage and distinction as a medic and sought always to help others, " offering his "heartfelt condolences" to her family and friends.
How Wilde served and was commended
Wilde, 25, had shared videos documenting her daily life and fitness routines on TikTok and had been described as a popular and deeply respected medic. After joining the Army eight years ago, she served with the Welsh Guards until December 2025 before being promoted to corporal and moving to the Royal Yorkshire Regiment, attached to the 2nd Battalion, Royal Yorkshire Regiment.
The Welsh Guards highlighted her bravery in the Falklands, saying she was first on the scene after a vehicle overturned, leaving multiple Guards injured. The regiment said Wilde "worked relentlessly to treat casualties and ensure every guardsman was accounted for and safe, " and that she was commended for her courage and professionalism.
Family and battalion tributes
Wilde's brother Josh described her as "strength wrapped in softness, " saying she had served with "courage and pride" and "lived with resilience. " He recalled that she "adored long walks with her dog, the peace of nature, books that transported her and the sense of freedom found outdoors, " adding that she had "a warmth and loyalty that was rare. A heart that gave even when she had been hurt. "
The Welsh Guards said Wilde had "a rare ability to lift those around her, " noting she was "popular, genuine and deeply respected, " known for "calmness under pressure, tireless care for others, and unwavering commitment to her role, " and that her loss would be felt "across the battalion and far beyond. "
