Electric Bus Service Connects Scottish City to Charming Coastal Town
Ember, the UK’s pioneering all-electric coach operator, is enhancing transportation options in Scotland. The company has unveiled a new electric bus service that connects Inverness to Oban, along the scenic west coast.
New Route Details
Starting February 25, the service will feature eight return journeys daily between Inverness and Fort William. Two of these journeys will continue to Oban, covering a distance of 110 miles.
Fare Information
- Inverness to Fort William: £13.75
- Fort William to Oban: £11.25
This new route will also make stops at Fort Augustus and Fort William, adding convenience for travelers in the region.
Expansion of Electric Bus Routes
This announcement follows Ember’s introduction of its E1 route, which connects holidaymakers between Aberdeen city center and Edinburgh Airport. Operating seven days a week, the journey lasts approximately three and a half hours.

Recent Developments
In recent months, Ember also expanded its electric bus service between Glasgow and Inverness. This route operates non-stop and includes stops in:

With 12 return trips available each day, it aims to provide frequent and reliable service for passengers.
Future Plans
In 2024, Ember intends to grow its fleet of zero-emission coaches following the acquisition of a £5.6 million loan from Triodos Bank. This funding will facilitate the purchase of an additional 14 coaches, bringing Ember’s total to 38.
