Tv App to Carry Every MLS Match as 2026 Season Kicks Off
Major League Soccer opens its 2026 season with every match available on the tv app, and all 30 clubs take the field across MLS is Back weekend on Feb. 21–22. The launch aligns with a landmark year for the sport as the FIFA World Cup returns to North America.
Tv App will stream every match, with enhanced features
Beginning this season, every MLS match will be available on Apple TV, with subscribers in more than 100 countries and regions able to watch without blackouts; the service will also carry the Leagues Cup, Michelob ULTRA Campeones Cup, MLS All-Star Game, and the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. The push to Apple TV is slated to add dedicated production touches such as the new Walmart Saturday Showdown and enhanced in-stadium pre- and postgame shows for Sunday Night Soccer presented by Continental Tire.
Opening weekend highlights at the LA Coliseum and coast-to-coast primetime
The weekend’s marquee kickoff comes at the historic LA Memorial Coliseum, where Inter Miami CF faces Los Angeles FC at 9: 30 p. m. ET, a match expected to draw more than 70, 000 fans. The opening slate also features Sunday Night Soccer on Feb. 22, when the LA Galaxy host New York City FC at 7 p. m. ET. All 30 clubs will play this MLS is Back weekend, with 13 of the 15 season openers scheduled for Saturday.
Stars and storylines the new season starts with
High-profile players and matchups are built into the first weekend: Lionel Messi and the reigning MLS Cup champion Inter Miami CF open against Son Heung-Min and LAFC in the Walmart Saturday Showdown, and Thomas Müller has said he’s eager to begin his first full season with Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Those matchups frame a season that Commissioner Don Garber called a historic moment for the league as North America prepares to host the World Cup.
Midseason pauses, stadium openings and the road to December
The league will pause play in late May to allow players, fans, and communities to experience the World Cup; all 13 host cities are home to MLS clubs. Inter Miami CF is scheduled to open Miami Freedom Park on April 4, and the MLS All-Star Game is set for July 29 in Charlotte. Decision Day is scheduled for Nov. 7, and MLS Cup is set for Dec. 18.
The immediate milestone is MLS is Back weekend on Feb. 21–22, when every MLS match will be available on the tv app and the season’s new broadcast features will debut; the league will then continue through the spring before pausing in late May for the World Cup.
