2026 VFL and VFLW Fixtures Announced
The 2026 Smithy’s VFL and VFLW fixtures have been officially announced. This confirmation marks the beginning of the Footscray Bulldogs’ journey to defend their 2025 premiership title.
Fixture Details for VFL and VFLW
The Footscray Bulldogs will kick off their season on Saturday, March 21, against the Casey Demons. The match is scheduled for 2:05 PM at Mission Whitten Oval. Following their first game, the Bulldogs will have a bye in Round 2 and then face Essendon on April 5 at home.
Key Matches
- April 17: Bulldogs vs. Geelong at GMHBA Stadium
- Round 6: Grand Final rematch at Southport against the Sharks
The Bulldogs will also experience byes during Round 7 and Round 14 in the first 13 rounds. This period has been completely scheduled.
VFLW Schedule Highlights
The Western Bulldogs will begin their VFLW season with a game against the Demons at Casey Fields on May 24, following a bye in Round 1. Their second match will take place at Mission Whitten Oval against Collingwood on May 30.

- Match against Geelong
- Match against Hawthorn
These games will all occur within the first six rounds, which have been confirmed. An updated schedule means the last three rounds of the VFLW regular season will overlap with the initial three rounds of the NAB AFLW competition.
Future Matches
Matches for Rounds 14-21 of the VFL and Rounds 7-16 of the VFLW have also been set. Specific venues and times for these fixtures will be announced after the AFL’s corresponding matches are confirmed later this year.
