Rosenior Plans Anselmino’s Next Move Post Chelsea Recall by Friday
Liam Rosenior, the head coach of Chelsea, has announced plans to discuss the future of young centre-back Aaron Anselmino, who was recently recalled from his loan at Borussia Dortmund. The decision came after Chelsea opted to activate the break clause in Anselmino’s loan agreement due to challenging negotiations concerning a transfer for Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.
Rosenior’s Plans for Anselmino Post-Chelsea Recall
As the situation with Jacquet remains unresolved, with ongoing discussions aimed at a potential summer transfer, Rosenior will focus on integrating Anselmino into the first team. This comes amid injury concerns for players Levi Colwill and Tosin Adarabioyo.
Anselmino’s Performance at Dortmund
Anselmino’s loan period at Borussia Dortmund saw him make ten appearances. Despite facing two injury setbacks, he managed to showcase his skills effectively when fit, according to Rosenior.
Upcoming Conversations and Integration
Rosenior stated, “I’m due to have a conversation with Aaron. He’s not back yet until Thursday and Friday. Hopefully, from there, we can make his situation clearer.” His goal is to integrate Anselmino back into the squad quickly.
Defensive Challenges Ahead
While Anselmino is a right-footed defender, his return does not address the team’s limited options for left-footed centre-backs. Currently, Benoit Badiashile and left-back Jorrel Hato are the only left-footed options available. Other right-footed players, including Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, and Josh Acheampong, can fill the left-sided centre-back position.
Potential Premier League Debut
If Anselmino adjusts quickly to Rosenior’s coaching style, he could make his Premier League debut this weekend against West Ham at Stamford Bridge.
