Eric Dane Skips ALS Gala Due to Ongoing Health Challenges
Eric Dane will not attend the ALS Network’s Champions for Cures and Care Gala. This event takes place on Saturday night in Pasadena, where he is to be honored as Advocate of the Year.
Health Challenges Prevent Attendance
The ALS Network announced his absence due to ongoing health challenges related to his ALS diagnosis. In their statement, they expressed gratitude for his advocacy and dedication to the ALS community. Broadway star Aaron Lazar will accept the award on Dane’s behalf.
About the Gala
- The gala aims to raise funds for ALS research and support.
- Dane was named the headlining honoree in September.
- It celebrates individuals making significant contributions to ALS care and cure efforts.
Dane’s Health Journey
In less than a year, the actor has faced significant health issues due to ALS, a progressive nervous system disorder that impairs muscle function. In June, he revealed that he lost functionality in his right arm.
His ex-wife, Rebecca Gayheart, mentioned that he requires “24/7 nurses” for assistance. Despite these challenges, Dane continues to pursue his acting career, recently guest-starring in an episode of Brilliant Minds.
Sharing His Experience
Dane took part in a virtual panel with I Am ALS and the writers from NBC’s drama series. He emphasized the importance of sharing his journey with the public. “I’m not about to concede my purpose to some disease,” he stated. “I think it’s imperative that I share my journey with as many people as I can because I don’t feel like my life is about me anymore.”
As he prepares for another season of Euphoria, Dane remains committed to raising awareness about ALS and supporting those affected by the disease.
