Durham School Principal Resigns After Indictment in Obstruction Case
The principal of Eno Valley Elementary School, Tounya Wright, has announced her resignation following criminal charges related to an obstruction case. This decision comes in the wake of an indictment concerning an incident from 2024, where a student with autism was found tied to a chair.
Tounya Wright’s Indictment Details
Wright’s resignation will take effect on January 31. She is facing serious legal repercussions, including three potential felony charges for obstruction of justice and one for perjury. The allegations state that she provided misleading information to law enforcement regarding when she first became aware of the troubling incident and who had informed her.
Other Administrators Indicted
Wright is not alone in facing indictment. Two other administrators from Durham Public Schools, Tanya Janique Giovanni and Ayesha Hunter, have also been charged with similar offenses. They were indicted following an extensive investigation stemming from the original incident involving the student.
