On January 16, 2024, the Browns held a virtual interview with Nate Scheelhaase. Following that, they met in Los Angeles for an in-person discussion on a Monday morning. This meeting lasted until approximately 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
The Browns have already conducted second interviews with three other candidates. Scheelhaase, currently 35 years old, is one of the favorites for the position. After joining the Rams as an offensive assistant in 2024, he was promoted to pass game coordinator in 2025. Under his guidance, the Rams’ passing attack ranked 10th in 2024 and first in 2025.
Cleveland’s Competition for Scheelhaase
As Scheelhaase interviews with the Browns, reports emerged of the Bills showing interest. He is scheduled to meet with the Bills on the same night following his conversation with Cleveland.
The Browns’ coaching search has faced challenges, including candidates opting out of consideration. Notably, former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter declined second interviews. Additionally, Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski withdrew from the process.
