Reimagined Singer Sorcerer 911 Channels Powerful 934/5 Design Aesthetic
Singer Vehicle Design recently unveiled the DLS Turbo, a stunning reimagining of the Porsche 911, now known as the “Sorcerer.” The first of its kind has reached its owner, highlighting the intense anticipation that surrounded the project.
DLS Turbo Overview
The DLS Turbo stems from the Dynamics and Lightweight Study program, a collaborative effort with Williams Advanced Engineering, renowned for its Formula 1 innovations. This version introduces forced induction and styling cues drawn from the iconic 1977 Porsche 934/5 race car.
Porsche 934/5 Heritage
- The 934/5 was created for IMSA Group 4 competition but ultimately faced restrictions before any races.
- It was instead dispatched to the SCCA Trans Am series, achieving notable success by winning six out of eight events that season.
Design and Construction
Every DLS Turbo begins as a 964-generation Porsche 911. The vehicle undergoes meticulous disassembly, with the body shell being reinforced before receiving a new carbon fiber exterior. Using computational fluid dynamics ensures aerodynamic performance while emulating the classic 934/5 look.
Custom Features of the Sorcerer
The owner of the Sorcerer chose a track-oriented specification, which includes:
- A deeper front spoiler for improved downforce.
- A larger rear wing to enhance stability.
- A striking Fantasia Blue paint that transitions in shade toward the back.
- Satin carbon fiber accents on the lower sections of the vehicle.
- An interior featuring bright Pearl Grey leather and Alcantara upholstery, punctuated by Champagne piping.
Engine and Performance
Powering the Sorcerer is a turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engine, adapted from the 964 design. This engine produces over 700 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to reach engine revs over 9,000. The setup includes:
- Water-cooled four-valve heads, originally designed for non-turbo DLS models.
- A lightweight titanium/Inconel exhaust system positioned for optimal aerodynamics.
- A six-speed manual transmission delivering power solely to the rear wheels.
Handling and Safety Features
To manage the significant power, the Sorcerer incorporates modern chassis upgrades. Key features include:
- Traction and stability control with five adjustable modes: Road, Sport, Track, Weather, and Off.
- Carbon-ceramic brakes for enhanced stopping power.
- Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires mounted on staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels.
With the DLS Turbo, Singer continues to offer enthusiasts a unique and personalized avenue to experience the legendary Porsche 911. From turbo tributes to safari-style modifications, their extensive options cater to a variety of automotive passions.
