Country Town Mourns Paddleboarder’s Tragic Death, Celebrating Joyful Spirit
Griffith, New South Wales, is mourning the untimely passing of 41-year-old Kuya “Butch” Buscato, a father of three and a cherished community member. Buscato tragically drowned in Lake Cargelligo after falling off his paddleboard on Saturday. His body was recovered two days later, leaving behind his wife, Vanessa, and their three children.

Mr. Buscato served as vice-president of the Griffith Filipino-Australian Community. Lilian Tronconi, the community president, said his death has deeply affected them. “We couldn’t believe it happened to him. We are feeling lost,” Tronconi remarked. She highlighted Buscato’s consistent willingness to volunteer and assist others, whether through electrical work or local church activities.
