Battlefield 6 Season 2 Debuts Contaminated Map, Revives Classic BF4 Terrain
Battlefield Studios has unveiled an exciting preview of the upcoming Battlefield 6 Season 2, scheduled for release on February 17, 2026. This season introduces a brand-new map named “Contaminated” and promises the return of a classic Battlefield 4 map, Golmud Railway. The studio aims to enhance the gameplay experience and make it more engaging for players.
Details on the Contaminated Map
The new map, Contaminated, is designed to provide diverse gameplay experiences. Its size is comparable to the Season 1 map, Eastwood, and the launch map, Mirak Valley. Battlefield Studios has indicated that this map will feature gameplay mechanics that test player interactions, vehicle combat, and aerial dynamics.
Visuals and Features
An early image of the Contaminated map depicts a rocky terrain with foggy forests and a small aircraft runway. Players can expect strategic gameplay with sniper positions concealed among the trees. While the map brings a fresh experience, it is built on the principles of engaging infantry combat and tactical gameplay.
Return of Golmud Railway
In addition to the Contaminated map, Battlefield 6 Season 2 will reintroduce Golmud Railway, a player-favorite from Battlefield 4. This map is one of the largest in the franchise and is known for its iconic combined arms gameplay.
Enhancements and Testing Plans
Battlefield Studios intends to fully rebuild Golmud Railway for Battlefield 6, preserving its beloved features while improving its adaptability to new game systems. As part of this, players can expect larger aerial spaces and better cover for aircraft during gameplay.
- Enhancements from Battlefield 4:
- Multi-session testing planned through Battlefield Labs.
- Focus on player feedback for continuous improvement.
Upcoming Additions and Features
Fans can also anticipate the return of the AH-6 Little Bird helicopter in Season 2. The studio is actively testing adjustments, including air radar systems to refine the aerial combat experience.
Player Engagement and Feedback
Battlefield global community manager Kevin Johnson has reassured players that their feedback will be a focus in ongoing development. Early access to some new content, including the Contaminated map, will be provided to Battlefield Labs participants starting this Friday.
Battlefield 6 was released on October 10, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. As the community eagerly awaits the launch of Season 2, they remain engaged with the ongoing testing and feedback process facilitated by Battlefield Studios.
