Jarry Set for First Oilers Home Game Against Devils
Goaltender Tristan Jarry is set to make his debut at home for the Edmonton Oilers. He will start against the New Jersey Devils at Rogers Place. This matchup coincides with forward Curtis Lazar’s milestone of playing his 600th NHL game.
Jarry’s Journey to Edmonton
Tristan Jarry, 30, has had a remarkable career, primarily with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played many games in Edmonton during his junior years with the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings, from 2011 to 2015. However, as an NHL player, he has only made two starts at Rogers Place.
Season Performance
Jarry’s performance this season has been notable. He has played exclusively on the road, achieving four wins along with a:
- Goals Against Average (GAA): 2.58
- Save Percentage: .907
- Shutouts: 1
Overall, Jarry holds a 13-3-2 record, with a GAA of 2.64, a .909 save percentage, and two shutouts. In his last game, he stopped all 31 shots against the Vancouver Canucks, contributing to a dominant 6-0 victory.
Team Dynamics and Coaching Strategy
Head Coach Kris Knoblauch has emphasized the importance of rotating goalies. Currently, the team features three goaltenders: Jarry, Connor Ingram, and Calvin Pickard. Jarry’s recent performance and recovery from injury have allowed the Oilers to balance their goaltending strategy effectively.
With Kasperi Kapanen sidelined due to injury, the Oilers will utilize a roster featuring 11 forwards and seven defencemen, with Alec Regula serving as the seventh defenceman. This strategy is designed to maintain flexibility while optimizing player performance as they face the Devils.
