Fatal Motorcycle-SUV Crash Claims Two Lives on Imperial Pkwy, Bonita Springs
A motorcycle-SUV crash on Imperial Pkwy in Bonita Springs proved fatal, resulting in two deaths late Sunday. The Florida Highway Patrol supplied the initial account of the collision.
Crash details
The collision occurred at about 10:23 p.m. at Imperial Parkway and East Terry Street. Troopers said the motorcycle was traveling north at a high rate of speed.
An SUV approached the intersection heading south in a left-turn lane. Both drivers reportedly had a green signal when the SUV began the left turn.
The motorcycle struck the SUV’s front-right side. The rider became entrapped in the passenger side of the SUV. Debris was scattered across the roadway.
Victims and injuries
Two people died at the scene. An 18-year-old male motorcyclist from Fort Myers was pronounced dead.
The SUV passenger, a 55-year-old woman from Bonita Springs, also died at the scene. The SUV driver, a 65-year-old Bonita Springs man, survived and was taken to Gulf Coast Medical Center with minor injuries.
Response and investigation
Firefighters and troopers responded to the scene. The crash happened near the I-75 interchange, police said.
