Developer IO Interactive recreated the look of classic Bond openings. The sequence uses silhouetted dancers, abstract shapes and kaleidoscopic transitions.
Visual tropes include bold contrasts, mirrored images and the iconic 007 running with a gun. The credits use a minimalist sans-serif type associated with the Daniel Craig era.
Music and talent
Veteran composer David Arnold wrote the score for the sequence. Arnold previously scored five Bond films, from Tomorrow Never Dies to Quantum of Solace.
Lana Del Rey performs the theme. Her inclusion follows a past rejected Spectre submission.
Cast, story and style
Actor Patrick Gibson is credited as James Bond in the game. IO Interactive presents him with the same opening-credit status as film actors.
The title sequence reflects influences from Daniel Kleinman, who designed many Bond openings since GoldenEye in 1995. Quantum of Solace was the only recent exception to Kleinman’s run.
Gameplay and narrative
007 First Light is a single-player, third-person game. It tells a new origin story inspired by Ian Fleming’s novels, short stories and the films.
The gameplay emphasizes stealth and strategy rather than pure gunplay. That design may appeal to fans of the most recent Bond movies.

Release details
007 First Light is scheduled for release on 27 May for PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S. Windows pre-orders are available on Steam.
A Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow later in the year. The title is the first major Bond product since Amazon gained control of the franchise.
