Man Stabbed on Portland’s Congress Street
Police in Portland responded Saturday evening after reports of a stabbing on Congress Street. Officers arrived at about 5:25 p.m. to the 600 block.
A 45-year-old man was found injured and bleeding, according to police. He was taken to Maine Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Investigation and arrest
Investigators pursued leads at the scene and during follow-up. They arrested 44-year-old Stephanie Vierkant, who is unhoused.
Vierkant was booked into Cumberland County Jail after the arrest. Officials say the detention followed the on-scene investigation.
