Superman Faces Off with The Legion, Manchester Black, and Knight Vision

Superman Faces Off with The Legion, Manchester Black, and Knight Vision

New solicitations reveal sweeping changes for Superman and the wider DCU in mid-2026. Filmogaz.com examined the July and June releases and compiled the essential details.

Superman’s Year One Thousand mission

Superman Annual 2026: Year One Thousand arrives on 7/29/26. Joshua Williamson writes, with art by Eddy Barrows and Yasmine Putri.

The annual follows Superman after DC K.O. left him missing. He pushed Darkseid back, rejected the Heart of Apokolips, and traveled into the future.

The 31st century lies scarred by Darkseid’s Absolute Legion. That force had destroyed the Legion of Super-Heroes. Now Superman uses Time Trapper’s powers to repair history.

The book is 48 pages and priced at $5.99. Variant card stock editions will run $6.99.

Readers should expect a tense race as Superman’s godlike powers begin to fade. The issue stages Superman Faces Off with The Legion as he tries to heal the future.

Justice League fallout and Knight Vision

The Heart of Omega’s visions also altered the Justice League. The artifact granted new abilities and prophetic glimpses to several members.

Justice League Unlimited #17, by Mark Waid with art by Clayton Henry, explores redemption arcs for former villains. Those shifts create new voids in the rogue community.

To address that gap, Justice League Unlimited: Knight Vision is scheduled for 7/29/26. Mark Waid and Joshua Williamson co-write, with Miguel Mendonça on art.

Knight Vision centers on an uneasy Batman and Lex Luthor alliance. They investigate an emerging villain exploiting shifted priorities and the League’s visions. This special sets up future threats in the All In Saga.

Manchester Black and Superboy-Prime

Joshua Williamson and Dan Mora continue Superman’s monthly thread. Manchester Black resurfaces as a central antagonist.

In upcoming issues, Manchester Black seeks resurrection using Superboy-Prime’s meta-nature. He aims to escape the fictional page and enter the real world.

Superman #40 goes on sale 7/22/26. It is a 32-page issue priced at $4.99, with a card stock variant at $5.99. Expect confrontations with members of the Super-Family.

Action Comics #1100 and release schedule

Action Comics #1100 appears on 6/25/26. The issue celebrates Superman’s long history and brings multiple creative teams together.

Writers include Mark Waid, Joshua Williamson, Sophie Campbell, and Dan Slott. Art duties are shared by Skylar Patridge, Ryan Sook, Dan Mora, and Lucas Meyer.

The standard edition lists at $5.99, with a card stock variant at $6.99. A foil variant by Jim Cheung will retail for $7.99.

Solicits also raise the question of other returns, such as Zod. Whether those plans arrive on the expected schedule remains to be seen.
