Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones Lead Cast of Disney’s ‘Hexed’ Animation

Hailee Steinfeld voices Billie, a nonconformist teenager in a sleepy town. Billie stumbles into witchcraft and is swept into a hidden magical realm. Rashida Jones plays her orderly, type-A mother, who must adapt to unexpected changes.
The studio confirmed the casting and described the story as both whimsical and family-friendly. The announcement named Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones as the lead cast of Disney’s ‘Hexed’ animation.
Teaser details
Disney released a short teaser that introduces Billie meeting a talking book and pen. In the clip, the Pen asks, “Have you ever been persecuted, drowned or burned at the stake?”
Billie replies, “I’ve burned a steak in the microwave.” After she signs the book, it promises a “world of magic and wonder.”
Production and release
Josie Trinidad and Jason Hand are directing the feature. Producers include Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones. Jared Bush first revealed the project at D23 in August 2025.
The film will play in the Thanksgiving release window. Disney aims to continue its strong holiday box office tradition.
