University of Michigan President Faces Brain Cancer Diagnosis

Mark Bernstein, chair of the Board of Regents, announced the news in a video to the campus. He said the decision comes with Kent Syverud’s permission.

Domenico Grasso will remain interim president. He has led the university since May.

Syverud’s background
Kent Syverud currently serves as President and Chancellor at Syracuse University. He was chosen in January to be the University of Michigan’s 16th president.
