Director Reveals Top Actress Cast as First Female James Bond
Amazon MGM Studios has placed a new James Bond reboot into early production. Denis Villeneuve will direct, while Steven Knight handles the screenplay.
Casting speculation
Names linked to the role include Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi and Callum Turner. At the same time, debate over a female James Bond continues. Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas and Barbara Broccoli have publicly opposed a female lead.
Female Bond debate
Lashana Lynch briefly held the 007 designation in No Time to Die. Kim Sherwood’s Double O novels have introduced female equivalents. Bond’s daughter Mathilde Swann remains a possible narrative successor.
Euronews Culture ran an April 1 report claiming Jesse Buckley had been cast as 007. That story was an April Fool’s prank.
Sydney Sweeney and industry backing
Sydney Sweeney has entered the conversation as a potential contender. She is 28 and known for Euphoria, The Handmaid’s Tale and The White Lotus, plus films like Madame Web and Immaculate.
Sweeney told Variety she would have more fun playing James Bond. Director Paul Feig publicly endorsed her to The Sun, praising her work ethic and screen presence. Search interest now even includes phrases such as Director Reveals Top Actress Cast as First Female James Bond.
