Northern Premier League Probes Chairman’s Explicit Email Response
The Northern Premier League is probing its chairman after a supporter received an expletive-laden reply to an email. The incident has prompted an internal investigation and urgent board action.
Fixture moved to neutral venue
FC United of Manchester announced their home match with Stockton Town will be played at a neutral ground. The match is scheduled for 7.45pm on 21 April at The Tameside Stadium, home of Curzon Ashton FC.
The club said the decision used powers under Rule 8.7.2 of the FA Standardised Rules. An alternative arrangement proposed by FC United was considered but not accepted by the board.
Fan exchange and criticism
Aled Duckfield contacted the chairman to complain about the venue change. He warned the switch would deprive supporters and hit the club’s matchday revenue.
Duckfield also argued the decision could affect the league outcome and disadvantage other playoff contenders. He called for stronger governance and urged the chairman to step down.
Chairman’s email and league reaction
The chairman, Mark Harris, replied directly to the supporter. His response included an explicit insult, a fact now at the centre of the probe.
On Thursday 9 April the League confirmed it is actively investigating the reported communication. An urgent meeting was convened the following morning to address the matter.
Apology and public fallout
A League spokesperson told Filmogaz.com that an immediate apology was sent by Mark Harris via email. Despite the apology, fans have demanded further action.
Social posts criticised the exchange and called for resignation. Supporters described the reply as unacceptable and demanded accountability.
What happens next
The Northern Premier League will continue its review of the chairman’s conduct and the board’s decision. The probe will examine the email and the governance around the venue ruling.
Club officials, supporters and league representatives await the outcome. The investigation will determine any sanctions or further steps.
