Netflix Scraps Film as Millie Bobby Brown Exits Over ‘Creative Differences’
Filmogaz.com has confirmed that Netflix has scrapped the sports drama Perfect after Millie Bobby Brown exited the project. Sources say the actress left because of creative differences with the production team.
Project background and cancellation
The biopic was announced in September 2025. It had been slated to begin filming this summer.
Brown had been attached as both lead actor and executive producer. Nik Bower of Riverstone Pictures and Thomas Benski of Magna Studios were lead producers.
Creative departures
Director Gia Coppola had already stepped away from the film. Ronnie Sandahl was credited as the screenwriter.
Filmogaz.com reports that Brown’s exit triggered Netflix to halt the production. Insiders attribute the breakdown to creative disagreements.
The story the film would have told
The movie aimed to chronicle Kerri Strug’s role in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Strug was a member of the US “Magnificent Seven” team that won gold.
At 18, Strug completed a vault despite an ankle injury. The scene became one of the most enduring images in Olympic history.
After her landing, her ankle collapsed. Coach Béla Kárólyi helped carry her from the competition floor and to the medal ceremony.
The moment turned Strug into a national figure. She appeared on talk shows, was parodied on Saturday Night Live, and appeared on Wheaties boxes.
After gymnastics, Strug worked as a primary school teacher before serving in roles at the White House and Justice Department.
Impact on Brown’s relationship with Netflix
The cancellation does not end Brown’s ties to the streamer. She has several projects still in development or completed for Netflix.
- Enola Holmes 3 is scheduled to premiere on the platform this summer.
- Just Picture It, a romantic comedy, is finished with Brown starring and producing alongside Gabriel LaBelle.
- Nineteen Steps, an adaptation of Brown’s debut novel, is listed among her upcoming projects.
Career notes
Brown’s Netflix journey began at age 12. She rose to fame as Eleven in Stranger Things.
Stranger Things concluded with its fifth season finale on New Year’s Eve 2025. Brown remains a frequent presence in Netflix’s slate.
