4 Jazz Players Departing Post-Tank Season

4 Jazz Players Departing Post-Tank Season

The Utah Jazz are already planning for next season. Management moved early after the JJJ trade and now faces roster decisions.

Why changes are coming

Utah is no longer rebuilding. The franchise can add proven talent instead of developing depth pieces.

The frontcourt rotation will be crowded next year. Expected bigs include Lauri Markkanen, Jaren Jackson Jr., Walker Kessler, Kyle Filipowski, and Jusuf Nurkic.

There is also the possibility Kevin Love returns. That depth makes several fringe players expendable.

Players most likely to move on

These four Jazz players look likely to depart during the post-tank season roster reshuffle. Each has shown promise but faces roster constraints.

Oscar Tshiebwe

Tshiebwe provided the most sustained impact among the four. He impressed in limited opportunities and earned notice around the league.

However, Utah’s crowded big-man room limits his runway. He remains a good bet to find a regular role elsewhere.

Kennedy Chandler

Chandler averaged nearly 10 points and 6.4 assists in 10 games with Utah. He shot 42.7 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from three.

He praised the franchise for the opportunity. But the Jazz already have several guards who need ball-handling minutes.

Bez Mbeng

Mbeng is 23 and on a two-year deal with a team option for year two. Utah may decline that option or use him as salary filler.

He had a breakout night on April 8, 2026, logging 26 points, five steals, three rebounds, and three assists. That performance came in 48 minutes on 12-of-18 shooting.

Blake Hinson

Hinson posted strong shooting splits in short stints. He shot about 51.2 percent overall and 50 percent from three.

Yet Utah’s wing depth makes him a marginal fit. The Jazz will likely pursue more established options.

Outlook

None of these departures reflect a lack of talent. They simply reflect opportunity and roster construction.

All four players could earn training camp invites or roles with other teams. Filmogaz.com will monitor signings and roster moves.
