When surveyed about specific issues, Mamdani received the highest marks for his handling of childcare, with a 54% approval rate and only 21% disapproving. Following childcare, housing affordability garnered 49% approval and 25% disapproval. Public safety received a 45% approval rating against a 32% disapproval. However, voters expressed strong division concerning the city budget, showing only 40% approval and 37% disapproval.

Economic Condition and Budget Management

Regarding the current economic state of New York City, perceptions are mixed. Approximately 40% rate it as poor, while 38% deem it fair, and only 19% categorize it as good or excellent.

Voter Priorities for Budget Management

To address the city budget gap, voters provided several recommendations:

  • 55% support raising taxes on the wealthy
  • 41% suggest better management of spending
  • 4% recommend a 5% increase in property tax

A substantial 65% of voters support implementing a millionaire’s tax, compared to 20% who oppose it. The support is robust among lower-income households, with a 54-point margin favoring the tax among earners below $150,000 annually.

Corporate Tax Increase Views

A plurality of voters, 44%, believe that a corporate tax increase of 1-2% would not drive companies out of New York City. In contrast, 30% are concerned it would, while 27% are undecided.

Winter Storm Response Ratings

Reflecting on his administration’s response to the winter storms in 2026, the ratings are as follows:
