The franchise will expand with a prequel titled John Rambo. Sylvester Stallone is listed as a producer.
Jalmari Helander, director of Sisu, will helm the film. Noah Centineo is cast in the title role.
The story is conceived as a prequel to First Blood. It follows Rambo’s service as a Green Beret in the Vietnam War.
Speaking to Filmogaz.com’s Perri Nemiroff, Helander said he wants to inspire a new generation. He hopes ten-year-olds will head into the woods pretending to be Rambo.
Helander compared Centineo to Jorma Tommila. He praised Centineo’s screen presence and charisma.
