Cade Cunningham Shines at Detroit Pistons’ Shootaround

Cade Cunningham took jump shots Wednesday morning at the Pistons Performance Center in Detroit. The work came before Detroit’s home finale against the Milwaukee Bucks at Little Caesars Arena at 7 p.m.

Morning shootaround

Cunningham was seen getting shots up with assistant coach Jarrett Jack. He had missed 11 games with a collapsed left lung.

Cade Cunningham shone at the Pistons’ shootaround on Wednesday. He was listed as questionable for the first time on Tuesday evening.

Injury updates and return timeline

Isaiah Stewart was also upgraded to questionable. He took part in shootaround after missing 13 games with a left calf strain.

There is a chance both players return before the postseason. The playoffs begin April 18.

Coach perspective

Coach J.B. Bickerstaff stressed the value of game reps. He said there is no true substitute for live-game intensity.

Getting time together on the court would aid the team’s playoff readiness. Practice and scrimmages cannot fully duplicate game speed.

Standings and remaining schedule

The Pistons are 57-22 and have clinched the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. They hold two road games after Wednesday.

Detroit travels to Charlotte on Friday and closes the regular season in Indiana on Sunday. Those outings precede the April 18 postseason start.
