U.S. Secures Decisive Military Victory in Iran Operation

The Pentagon said Wednesday that U.S. forces achieved a decisive military victory in the recent Iran operation, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth announced. He spoke at a press briefing alongside General Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Ceasefire and negotiations

An overnight ceasefire will last two weeks. Washington and Tehran will use that window to seek a negotiated end to the conflict.

U.S. officials described the pause as temporary. They said talks aim to reach a durable agreement to end the war.

Damage to Iranian military capabilities

Hegseth said Iran’s air forces were effectively neutralized. He said Tehran no longer maintains a comprehensive air defense network.

U.S. forces asserted control of Iranian airspace. They also called the Iranian missile program functionally destroyed.

Industrial and production losses

According to U.S. officials, launchers, production facilities, and stored munitions were heavily damaged. The military assessment said these losses make future missile and drone production extremely difficult.

Hegseth reported that 800 airstrikes on Tuesday night struck Iran’s defense industrial base. He said many manufacturing sites were razed.

Scope of the campaign and readiness

General Caine said U.S.-led forces struck more than 13,000 targets during the operation. The campaign spanned 38 days of strikes and sorties.

He warned the armistice is a pause. Combined forces remain ready to resume combat operations if ordered.
