Channel 4 Cancels Scott Mills’ Bake Off Episode Following BBC Axing
Channel 4 has withdrawn an upcoming episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off that featured Scott Mills. The broadcaster made the decision after Mills was sacked by the BBC in March.
Channel 4 decision and scheduling
A Channel 4 statement on 8 April confirmed the episode will not air. The network said it will replace the show with an alternative Celebrity GBBO installment.
Channel 4 cited the seriousness of the allegations against Mills. The episode was due to be the final instalment of the 2026 Stand Up to Cancer series.
Why the episode was pulled
Mills left the BBC in March amid allegations about his personal conduct. The Metropolitan Police later said he had been probed in 2016 over alleged sexual offences involving a boy under 16.
The Crown Prosecution Service previously decided there was insufficient evidence to bring charges in 2016. The BBC said it terminated Mills’s contract after receiving new information shortly before the dismissal.
Other programmes affected
Broadcasters have removed other content featuring Mills. The BBC scrubbed Top of the Pops episodes he presented from its archive.
Mills was also due to host the companion podcast for Race Across the World. He has been replaced on that show by Tyler West.
Impact on fellow contestants
The contested Bake Off episode included other celebrities. The names Rag’n’Bone Man, Aston Merrygold, Edith Bowman and Jon Richardson were among those yet to appear.
Channel 4 did not confirm whether those participants will get another episode. Their bakes from the Mills episode are currently not scheduled to be broadcast.
Context and response
Earlier in April, Mills released a statement acknowledging the historical police inquiry. On 1 April he thanked colleagues, listeners and those who had sent support.
