Liverpool Urged to Sign England Duo as Salah Replacements
Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of this season. The forward departs after a trophy-laden spell at Anfield.
Salah won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Club World Cup. He also claimed four Premier League Golden Boots.
Waddle’s view on replacements
Former England winger Chris Waddle says one signing will not be enough. He has urged Liverpool to add an England duo to help fill the Salah replacements void.
Waddle spoke about the topic with FruityKing. He acknowledged that finding direct replacements will be very difficult.
Players suggested
Waddle identified Jarrod Bowen and Anthony Gordon as sensible options. He sees Bowen as the closest natural goal threat to Salah.
- Jarrod Bowen – A right-sided attacker currently at West Ham. Waddle noted Bowen scores regularly but is entering his later peak years.
- Anthony Gordon – A versatile attacker at Newcastle and a former Everton player. Waddle highlighted Gordon’s preference for the left and his ability to unsettle opponents.
Waddle suggested Bowen could provide immediate goals on the right. He added Gordon’s movement and adaptability could offer tactical variety.
Availability and suitability
Waddle warned Bowen may only offer a short-term solution. He said Bowen could be more attainable if West Ham were relegated.
Regarding Gordon, Waddle stressed the player enjoys operating on the left. He also argued Gordon can play centrally as a number nine.
The scale of the challenge
Replacing Salah’s goal output is a daunting task, Waddle maintained. He conceded few players match Salah’s scoring consistency.
Waddle accepted some players create more chances than Salah. Still, he said none replicate what Salah has delivered for Liverpool.
