PM Madbouli Prioritizes Fiscal Stability, Highlights Economic Achievements

Egypt’s prime minister, Moustafa Madbouli, stressed the need to secure sufficient financing for the country’s essential needs. He made the point during a follow-up meeting on Sunday with Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk.

Budget priorities for 2026/2027

Kouchouk said the 2026/2027 budget is built around clear priorities. It aims to be balanced and flexible, he added.

The plan includes allocations to maintain fiscal stability. It also seeks to stimulate growth and improve services for citizens and investors.

Reserves and risk mitigation

The budget preserves significant reserves to cushion potential shocks. Those reserves are designed to reduce fiscal vulnerability.

Spending controls and targeted support

The finance minister reaffirmed commitment to expenditure rationalisation measures. He said savings will free resources for priority areas.

Additional funding will be directed to selected entities. This aims to boost their flexibility in exceptional circumstances.

Trade continuity and supply chains

Ministries of Finance and Investment and Foreign Trade will coordinate closely, Kouchouk said. The focus is uninterrupted trade through ports and customs outlets.

Officials stressed the need for smooth commodity flows. Stable supply chains for essential goods are a top priority.

Legal reforms and the business climate

Kouchouk reviewed a package of draft laws already approved by the Cabinet. The measures will go to Parliament for discussion and ratification.

The reforms target the business environment with tax facilitation packages. The aim is to reduce taxpayer burdens, encourage investment, and widen the tax base.

Monetary coordination and economic reform

Ongoing reforms are being implemented in close coordination with the Central Bank of Egypt. The goal is stronger macroeconomic stability.

Officials want improved financial and monetary performance. They also aim to build a more resilient economy able to absorb external shocks.

Officials framed the strategy under the slogan PM Madbouli Prioritizes Fiscal Stability, Highlights Economic Achievements. The government said it will continue engaging the business community to support public services and growth.
