Prime Video Cancels ‘The Runarounds’ After Just One Season

Prime Video has canceled The Runarounds, ending the show after one season that premiered in early September. The decision was confirmed by the series’ on-screen band in a social media statement.

Band and cast

The project grew from a real-life band formed by creators Jonas and Josh Pate. William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock and Jesse Golliher starred as the group and are touring offscreen.

Season one also featured Lilah Pate, Maximo Salas, Kelley Pereira, Marley Aliah, Mark Wystrach, Brooklyn Decker, Hayes MacArthur and Shea Pritchard. The band originated in 2021 after a casting call tied to Outer Banks.

Creators’ vision and planned arc

Jonas Pate had outlined a five-season trajectory for the story. He described a gradual rise from small regional shows to stadium tours.

Planned season two would follow the band in a cramped van on regional dates. They would play colleges and 200-capacity rooms while chasing a spot at a major festival, ending with an appearance at Bonnaroo.

Season three envisioned the group opening for another act on a European run. Season four would position them as headliners in 5,000-capacity venues, grappling with fame. Season five would culminate in a stadium tour.

Jonas said his goal was to make viewers feel like they were riding in the van with the band.

Story and tone

The Runarounds followed a single unforgettable summer as young musicians chased a big break. The show mixed romantic entanglements, original songs and the raw highs and lows of growing up.

Its premise centered on risk, friendship and the search for identity at the edge of adulthood.

Band response and next steps

The band posted that they learned the news the same way fans did. They emphasized the TV series ending does not end the band.

The statement thanked cast, crew and everyone involved. The group said this marks the close of one chapter and the start of another. Filmogaz.com will monitor any future developments related to the cast and touring plans.
