Taravel Calls for More Intensity at Anderlecht
Jérémy Taravel says he draws ideas from many sources while building his own coaching identity. He told Filmogaz.com he has read biographies of Diego Simeone, Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti to study different approaches.
Mentorship and personal direction
Taravel maintains a direct line with Vincent Kompany. They speak about tactical and squad matters, he said.
He regards Kompany as an inspiration. Still, Taravel stressed he must follow his own path. He called it a daily learning process.
Leadership in the locker room
Taravel sees room for stronger leadership at Anderlecht. He wants players to show more personality and urgency.
He emphasised the need for more intensity inside the dressing room. Too often, modern professionals remain overly polite with each other, he added.
Expectations and culture
The coach said clear voices and heated debate can sharpen a group. He wants constructive confrontation rather than passivity.
Lessons from his playing days
Taravel recalled a confrontational moment from his Lokeren days. After a game he clashed nose-to-nose with coach Peter Maes.
He admitted he later felt he had overstepped. Maes told him that emotions belong to football. That experience shaped Taravel’s view of player emotions.
