New Museum Opens on Swindon’s Outskirts: Key Highlights Revealed
A community-run museum opened at the Maunsell Way Pavilion on Saturday, April 4. The venue welcomed many local visitors to view new displays and local archives.
Site and management
The pavilion once served a local football club. It had been unused since 2021.
Swindon Borough Council has leased the building to Wroughton Parish Council. The Wroughton History Group set up the museum and manages the displays.
Collections and exhibitions
The free-entry museum preserves Wroughton and Swindon memories. Exhibits include photo albums and wartime stories from the village.
Displays focus on historic shops and local trades. Visitors can also see toys, uniforms, old newspapers and maps.

Community effort and reaction
