Men’s Golf Team Prepares for Tiger Intercollegiate Tournament Monday

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men’s golf team will compete at the Tiger Intercollegiate. The tournament starts Monday at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri.

Event details

The tournament is a 54-hole event. Players will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.

Play begins each day with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The Club at Old Hawthorne measures 7,158 yards and plays as a par-70.

Field

Nineteen teams will take part in the field. The lineup includes conference and regional programs.

UTRGV recent form

UTRGV finished seventh at the Maridoe Collegiate. The Vaqueros posted a three-round total of 914.

The team’s rounds were 304, 299, and 311. That mark was six places better than the previous year.

Jorge Martin Sampedro led the roster. He tied for eighth with a 220 total and carded rounds of 78, 70, and 72.

Sampedro recorded his third top-10 of the spring. He finished ahead of six golfers ranked inside the Scoreboard top 100.
