Wells Shines in Historic 12-3 Victory Over Wichita State

NORMAN — Kendall Wells set a Southeastern Conference single-season home run mark on Tuesday, March 31. The freshman launched her 27th homer in just her 37th collegiate game.

Game recap

Oklahoma used an early surge to take control. The Sooners scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Kasidi Pickering delivered a two-run double. Ailana Agbayani followed with an RBI single to extend the lead.

Wichita State answered in the third. Ausha Moore hit a solo home run, her 11th of the year.

Kammie Smith added a two-run shot in the same inning. The Shockers cut the deficit to one run.

Pickering and Agbayani each hit solo homers in the fifth. The Sooners led 6-3 after five innings.

Audrey Lowry worked three scoreless innings to quiet the Wichita State lineup. In the sixth, Wells and Isabela Emerling launched three-run homers.

The pair of blasts produced a run-rule finish, ending the game after six innings. The final score was 12-3.

Audrey Lowry earned the win, improving to 16-1. Jade Sanders was charged with the loss, dropping to 4-4.
