Rachel Dratch Treasures a 25-Year-Old ‘SNL’ Relic (Exclusive)

Rachel Dratch, a seven-season Saturday Night Live alum, says she kept only one memento from Studio 8H. She treasures a 25-year-old SNL relic: a single cue card from a 2001 sketch. She shared the story in an exclusive Zoom call with Filmogaz.com.

The cue card

The card comes from the “Love-ahs” sketch. It contains the last few lines of the scene. Will Ferrell played Roger, and Dratch portrayed Virginia Klarvin.

Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore also appear in the sketch. The scene takes place in a hot tub at the fictional Welshly Arms Hotel. The sketch aired during Season 27 of SNL in 2001.

Why she kept it

Dratch says she never thought to take props while working on the show. She made an exception for that final cue card. She has kept it for 25 years but has not framed it.

Memorable SNL characters

  • Debbie Downer
  • “Boston Teen” Denise McDenna

These roles helped establish Dratch as a fan favorite on SNL. Her tenure included many notable sketches and collaborations.

Current projects and commercials

Dratch is currently starring in The Rocky Horror Show on Broadway. She is also fronting a new commercial series for American Home Shield.

In the ads, she plays “Warrantina,” a character she helped create. The spots mix comedy with home warranty themes.

On home style and preservation

Dratch jokes that her interior design is cluttered. She admits decorating is not her strong suit and says she might bring in help. Still, she protects her home with a warranty.
