NIT Championship: Updated Bracket and Schedule Revealed
The matchup for the postseason NIT title is set. No. 1 seeds Tulsa and Auburn will meet for the championship at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Sunday, April 5.
Semifinal summaries
Tulsa reached the final after a 74-69 semifinal victory over New Mexico. The game took place at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Thursday, April 2.
Tylen Riley closed the game for Tulsa. He scored nine of the Golden Hurricane’s final 15 points.
Auburn completed its own semifinal win to join Tulsa in the final. The Tigers eliminated No. 4 seed Illinois State, with Keyshawn Hall leading the way.
Hall finished with 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting. He also added six rebounds and three assists.
Title implications
Tulsa is seeking its third NIT crown. The program won titles in 1981 and 2001, and is the only finalist with prior NIT championships.
Auburn can become a first-time NIT champion in its first NIT appearance. The Tigers were among the early teams left out of the NCAA Tournament.
