Increased Police Patrols at Lakeside After Youth Group Clash
Essex Police have boosted their presence at Lakeside shopping centre ahead of the Easter period. The heightened profile follows a disturbance on Friday 27 March involving groups of children.
Incident at Hollywood Bowl
The disturbance occurred at about 6pm at the Hollywood Bowl leisure area. Staff partially evacuated the site while officers attended the scene.
Police spoke to and dispersed the group. At least one young girl was arrested as part of the response. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Operational response
An Essex Police spokesman told Filmogaz.com that a joint operation is underway. The force is working with Lakeside management and Thurrock neighbourhood officers.
Additional security and police resources are being used. Security personnel are posted at entry and exit points to control numbers.
Neighbourhood policing officers will frequently patrol the centre through the busy school holiday period. The aim is to tackle large influxes and reduce anti-social behaviour quickly.
Access control and public safety
Officers briefly prevented patrons from entering the Hollywood Bowl so they could manage the scene. This allowed them to preserve safety and establish control.
The police say they anticipate where problems are most likely to occur during school holidays. Increased police patrols and visible security measures will remain in place.
