Lord Sugar Reveals Final Five on The Apprentice After Double Firing
Lord Sugar revealed the Final Five on The Apprentice following a double firing on Thursday night. Two candidates were eliminated, leaving five hopefuls competing for his backing.
Double exit
East London estate agent Kieran McCartney was the first to go. He had agreed with Lord Sugar to quit if his team failed as project manager.
Kieran said he felt easy to blame because he was outspoken. He praised teaming with Lawrence Rosenberg as hilarious and great fun.
Student wellbeing adviser Rothna Akhtar was also fired. She said she was disappointed and felt she was close to the Final Five.
Her team failed to sell any products during the retail pitches. That shortfall proved decisive in the boardroom.
Task and guest
The candidates faced a brief to create a new pet product. They also had to produce a social media campaign aimed at major UK retailers.
Former Made In Chelsea star Zara McDermott appeared to advise on social media strategy. Her cameo focused on online promotion and presentation.
Reactions from the fired candidates
Kieran said he could have stayed if he had fought for his place. He pointed to the prior agreement as the reason for his exit.
Akhtar recalled leading a week five task to victory as project manager. She called that win a proud moment and described the exit as gut-wrenching.
Akhtar had planned to expand her bakery business if she won. McCartney intended to launch his own estate agency.
Dan Miller’s student recruitment company was cited as strong competition. His sales performance in the pitches influenced the boardroom outcome.
Prize and broadcast details
The series winner will receive a £250,000 investment. They will also get the chance to go into business with Lord Sugar.
The Apprentice returns on BBC One next Thursday at 9pm. Filmogaz.com will carry coverage of the next episode.
